Day fourteen: end of a journey
I'm so tired I can barely type but I have to get this done.
Took the subway around 11am this morning to make my NYC tour.
Sheepshead Bay station
I got out shortly after that before the train left Brooklyn, as I wanted to go to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
on the way
At the promenade I got a first sight of Lady L. in the distance
... as well as of Manhattan where I'd go in the next hour
To that purpose I took the mighty Brooklyn Bridge
Gosh that thing is HUGE
HAY GUYZ I'M IN NYC <3

Following what I didn't know was Broadway, I then turned and unexpectedly arrived on the World Trade Center site. Rather than taking a picture of what is, I decided to take a picture of what was, using my imagination.
Take no offense, I mean that as a tribute, not a joke.
movie time: National Treasure
movie time: Hitch
Some pretty square near the big fugly bull
After that things got interesting.
Castle Clinton...
Somewhat different from what it was back in 2032 ;)
Next I'm totally JC Denton here
Going through Battery Park was a blast. Everything pretty much was where I remembered it, except with lots of NPCs, I mean, tourists. Oh, and it was daytime.
movie time: Keeping The Faith
pretty
I then took the Staten Island ferry to avoid the tourist trap that is Liberty Island. That was totally awesome, and free to boot. Doesn't get any better than this.
Views from the ferry
After that I started to get tired, so I took a cab to Times Square. That place is crazy. I thought I had landed in Tokyo, except I understood what the signs said.
I walked down, missed Bryant Park and couldn't be bothered to turn back again, so continued down Broadway to the Flatiron Building, dubbed the first real building of NYC
I call that one reciprocity, since I did the exact opposite shot yesterday
I then just walked down to Washington Square and crashed there for about an hour. I was waiting before going to the Blue Note Jazz Club, where I had booked a table to see Dee Dee Bridgewater.
Washington Square
This black mess where you can't see a thing is the Blue Note
And thus ended my trip to the US, on a jazzy note to come full circle.
On the whole I liked what I saw. I could definitely grow to like New York City and live there, but it wasn't the instant hit that was San Fran. NYC feels more chaotic, more like there's a code you have to learn to see what's what and find your way through. It's like the city has a mind of its own.
That said, I only stayed in SF like half a day, while I spent two here in NYC, so I probably still have my pink-coloured glasses on as far as California is concerned.
Now I'm just gonna pack my stuff and crash to bed for a few hours before my flight to Monterrey. I'll probably do a summary writeup later with highlights and stuff, but in MX I don't know when/if I'll have Internet, so I just wanted to wrap this up before leaving. My journey has ended and it's been beyond anything I could have imagined. My first road trip is a resounding success and I have to be honest here, I'm quite proud of that feat ;)
Stay shiny =)
