Day four: Bryce Canyon, Salt Lake City
It was very cold again this morning when I left my room to go to the horseback rides. Around 40°F. There was a mixup in the booking and I was actually the only one there at that hour, so I couldn't get the half-day ride I wanted since there was a two-person minimum. I got a one-hour ride instead.
I'm kinda glad of that mixup actually, because I don't know if I could have done a three hour ride and drive afterwards...
The ride went through a forest, not the actual park. It was very nice, apart from asking if I was ok every now and then the guide and I just enjoyed the views in silence. We saw a few wild animals that were too fast for my camera, and I felt like I was in some kind of western.
Bring it on, John Wayne
I then drove off towards Bryce Canyon and... missed the entrance. As I looked for a way to turn back, there was some pretty good stuff to see anyway
I did get to the right intersection and after a minute I arrived at a gate and had to pay a fee and I knew I had arrived.
Bryce Canyon, in a word, is mindblowing. It's like, you know, Nature did its academic stuff with Yosemite, like okay, I have to put a forest here and a valley there and some snow and stuff to get good grades, and then smoked a joint and thought hey let's do something crazy for a change.
I hiked a bit down the Navajo trail, beautiful
That tree's got some serious DNA there
Then I doubled back and drove off, towards Salt Lake City.

The drive to SLC was pretty much uneventful. And everything looks kind of dull after Bryce, I must say.
Arriving at Mormontown
I arrived quite a bit ahead of schedule so I could rest a few minutes while I waited for Craig to arrive. We found out that David's Kitchen moved three weeks ago, but managed to find it anyway, and we had the best Chinese food ever. And HOT. Excellent :D
After that we went to his house and we had a wonderful evening with his family afterwards, drinking wine, watching the CSI season premiere and talking about all kinds of stuff, from our jobs to tv shows and movies to pirates, it was great.
